Car-to-car impacts are one of the most frequent accidents happening on the roads due to driver distraction or misjudgment. To support the driver in avoiding such nose to tail crashes, car manufactures offer avoidance technology that warns, supports adequate braking and/or ultimately stops the vehicle by itself.
For autonomous driving to be developed further, validation must cover a huge amount of test scenarios, in other words several hundreds of millions of test kilometers. Accomplishing this with conventional tests on testbeds and the road would take many decades and is therefore not feasible.
Fraunhofer IGD evolving the design process of mechanical components through faster, intuitive working and direct feedback. The new computing technology makes it possible to carry out the computer-aided design of a component and the simulation of its strength in parallel in a single operation.
A soldier must be able to move well despite protective clothing and equipment to be responsive at all times. In the narrowness of military vehicles, this depends on the accuracy of the interior design. A few millimeters can become a security risk.
Companies that process steel often require custom steel bars to make their products. As a result, steel traders are faced with the challenge of meeting customer-specific requirements while producing as little scrap as possible. That means they have to divide the inventory as efficient as possible.
Granta Design works with Dassault Systèmes to help development teams make informed decisions about the materials they want to use for the products they develop. To do this, Granta Design's material information management system GRANTA MI will be integrated into Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
The design of lithium-ion and other batteries and energy sources is becoming increasingly important as manufacturers need lighter, more efficient and safer technologies to meet consumer demands.
The Swedish National Road and Transport Institute (VTI) has compared road surface measurement systems in a comprehensive study. The study documents the performance of the Pavement Profile Scanner PPS from Fraunhofer IPM.
This year's Human Modeling Symposium will take place on October 18-19 in Berlin, Germany. Thanks to the many lecture proposals from the community, we offer the participants a highly interesting lecture program ranging from injury biomechanics to autonomous driving.
By the end of March, as previously reported, we received a record number of presentation proposals for this year's Human Modeling Symposium. The Scientific Committee reviewed the presentation proposals in April and was impressed by the quality of the proposals. We are currently working on creating an attractive lecture program from the accepted proposals.
