FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS recently carried out a case study for an automated optimization process based on the shape sensitivities computed by an adjoint CFD solver. The open-source optimization toolkit Dakota by Sandia National Labs, which is integrated in CAESES® through a direct interface, provided an optimization strategy that can directly receive the gradient information obtained from coupling adjoint shape sensitivities to CAD model parameters as input ( check out this recent article). Based on this information, the algorithm selects the parameter combination for the next variant that is then created by CAESES® and analyzed by the adjoint flow solver.
The automotive industry is one of the most important users of the material database CAMPUS of M-Base. A few years ago an extension of the CAMPUS data set has been implemented in cooperation with the German Society of Car Makers (Verband der Automobilindustrie - VDA), which allows the so-called "VDA data sheet" to be created for all materials.
For the tenth time, Human Solutions is honoring students, academic staff and doctoral students from the Ergonomics area, focusing on the vehicle interior and the cockpit with the RAMSIS Excellence Award. Work can be submitted in German or English language until June 30, 2017.
The 2017 edition of the SafetyCompanion by carhs.training is available as a print and a pdf version. The SafetyCompanion contains more than 60 pages of SafetyWissen (tables & graphs summarizing regulations and other requirements in vehicle safety), including 5 all new pages and more than 40 updated pages.
Dassault Systèmes announced the signing of a definitive share purchase agreement to acquire Next Limit Dynamics, a leader in highly dynamic fluid flow simulation used in aerospace and defense, transportation and mobility, high-tech, energy and other industries. Next Limit Dynamics' 2015 revenue was approximately 1.6 million euros.
Cloud services offer small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) potential for relief and savings in the IT system. However, these companies often lack acceptance and confidence in the offers. With the "Mittelstand 4.0 agency Cloud? and the "Cloud Mall Baden-Württemberg? the Fraunhofer IAO, together with its partners, wants to create transparency.
ANSYS, the High Performance Computing Center (HLRS) of the University of Stuttgart and Cray Inc. have set a new supercomputing world record by scaling ANSYS® Fluent® to over 172,000 computer cores on the HLRS supercomputer Hazel Hen, a Cray® XC40 system.
Since 1st November 2016 Imperia GmbH has been a member of the FEV Group. The FEV Group, headquartered in Aachen, has more than 4,000 highly qualified specialists in modern, customer-oriented development centers at more than 35 locations on four continents for its customers from the transport sector.
Long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) are used in the automotive industry for lightweight design of e.g. bumper girders or door modules. In order to exploit the light weight potential of the material, the locally varying microstructure has be taken into account in simulations. With conventional methods, however, this is only possible in a simplified way.
At the automotive CAE Grand Challenge 2017 our partners have the opportunity to conduct workshops. In the workshops the partners can demonstrate their products, perform introductory trainings or present their companies and services. The workshops are held in parallel to the presentation program.
