The project of the Association of Industrial Research Associations (AiF) addresses the characterization and modeling of cast iron materials used for safety-critical components such as chassis components and truck cab bearings. Decisive is the exact knowledge of the deformation and failure behavior of the materials to ensure a controlled energy absorption by the component in the event of a crash.
