Further development of a leaf spring model by Magna Engineering Center Steyr

CAE News |

BlattfedermodellsLeaf springs, available in different versions, are still one of the most commonly used suspension elements in vehicles. Total vehicle models are mainly used at Magna for driving dynamics and comfort simulations as well as for load determination for fatigue analysis. These simulations are designed to represent the kinematic and dynamic behavior of the leaf spring as accurately as possible and at the same time taking little computing time. Despite of increasing computer performance, computationally optimized models have to be used, especially in optimization processes. For methodological validation, the leaf spring model was verified through measurements.
