The CAE experts of the international automotive industry helped us identifying the 7 most critical, current challenges of automotive CAE. These form the topics of the sessions of the 9th Automotive CAE Grand Challenge, held April 5-6, 2017 in Hanau, Germany. In their lectures, speakers from industry, research and software development will explain the challenges and report on their work to solve the challenges.

The below "Grand Challenges" form the topics of the sessions of the automotive CAE Grand Challenge 2017:

  • Crash: Material and failure models of plastics
  • Fatigue: Virtual proofing ground, determination of load collectives
  • Strength: Failure models for adhesives
  • NVH: Squeak and rattle, groaning
  • Multi simulation: Multi trade simulation, influence of manufacturing on material and product
  • Optimization: Topology optimization
  • Safety: Stability of dummy models, including scatter of hardware dummies

In the sessions CAE experts from industry, research and software development will explain the importance of the individual Grand Challenge for the virtual car development process and report on their work to overcome the challenge.
