In developed countries, we are witnessing in recent decades a constant aging of the population. With increasing age, humans change in many ways. Changes in body shape, agility and senses can be observed. This has an impact on all areas of human life, in the home, at work and participating to road traffic. Virtual methods, that use digital human models, could support the design of products and processes suitable for elder people. A joint research project by Human Solutions GmbH with imk automotive GmbH and the Institute Industrial Engineering and Innovation Management at the Technical University Chemnitz, should contribute to this. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the IKT 2020 program.
