Researchers develop new material model for virtual crash testing
CAE News |
![]() | To improve the predictive power of numerical crash analysis, simulations of the individual process steps have to be coupled. At the same time the need for mechanical adequate material models and parameters for advanced high strength steels arises. Within the research project a versatile material model is prepared taking into account the thermal and mechanical history of the mechanical properties of multiphase steels. Two types of high strength steels are considered in the project: A dual-phase steel (DP) and the boron-alloyed steel 22MnB5. The history of materials takes into account both the heat treatment and the forming steps. A transfer of the resulting final state of the components in the crash simulation improves the prediction accuracy of the simulation calculations. More Information: scai.fraunhofer.de/umcra2 |
