Seminar: Modeling of Joints in Crash SimulationToday, a variety of joining techniques are available for the efficient assembly of structures. Modern lightweight construction often uses a material mix in which different materials are used for the components for which the selected material enables weight savings. The reliable joining of these different materials is a particular challenge. The failure of joints in a crash can cause the vehicle structure to collapse. Therefore, the possible failure of joints must be accurately predicted in crash simulations, which are carried out as part of the virtual vehicle development process.

As a swarm, a fleet of one hundred cars provides valuable data that can be used to detect extreme weather events. In conjunction with other weather data, this improves the forecast of heavy rainfall, for example. This is what IAV has been researching in collaboration with the Technical University of Aachen in the MobileVIEW project.
