The SafetyCompanion 2024 is out nowThe 2024 edition of the SafetyCompanion has been published. It is now the 20th edition of the globally popular compendium on vehicle safety. Like the previous editions since 2005, the current version summarizes the most important requirements and test procedures for active and passive vehicle safety. read more ... Better Detection of large Trucks, Motorcycles would improve Front Crash PreventionFront crash prevention systems aren't as good at preventing crashes with large trucks and motorcycles as they are crashes with cars, two new studies from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety show.
Most front crash prevention systems include forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking (AEB). Forward collision warning alerts the driver when a rear-end crash is imminent, and AEB automatically slams on the brakes if the driver fails to respond in time.

Automakers fulfill AEB Pledge for light-duty VehiclesAll 20 participating automakers have fulfilled a voluntary pledge to equip nearly all the light vehicles they produce for the U.S. market with automatic emergency braking (AEB). Five new manufacturers installed AEB on more than 95 percent of the light vehicles they produced between Sept. 1, 2022, and Aug. 31, 2023, to meet the deadline set in the agreement.

Brake-by-Wire: Purely electric Brake System of the Future by ZF for Software-defined VehiclesAt its Next Generation Mobility Day in Shanghai, ZF presents a new, purely electro-mechanical brake system for the first time. Braking force is generated at each wheel by an electric motor, i.e. without a hydraulic system and brake fluid.
