New U.S. Child Restraint Systems Standard (FMVSS 213b) publishedThis final rule amends FMVSS No. 213, "Child restraint systems," and adds FMVSS No. 213b, "Child restraint systems; Mandatory applicability beginning December 5, 2026." FMVSS No. 213b, mandatory in three years, includes those amendments and updates the standard seat assembly on which NHTSA tests child restraint systems for compliance with frontal crash performance requirements.

From the Lab to the Street: How TU Graz is making Driver Assistance Systems saferIntelligent speed assist, emergency brake assist, emergency lane assist, driver drowsiness alert, reversing assist, low concentration warning system or emergency brake lights - from July 2024, a whole range of safety and driver assistance systems will be mandatory for all new cars in the European Union. Since October 2017, the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Quality Assurance Methodologies for Autonomous Cyber-Physical Systems at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) has been working with corporate partner AVL List GmbH to ensure that these systems work as intended and really provide greater safety.

The assist system can warn the driver and passengers about road users approaching the parked Volkswagen from behind. Israel to require Intelligent Speed Assistance updates for EU-approved VehiclesEU-type-approved vehicles imported into Israel from January 2025 must be fitted with an Intelligent Speed Assistance system capable of reading local speed signs, according to a letter sent to importers by the transport ministry earlier this year. Israel requires new imported vehicles to meet EU, US or Canadian vehicle safety standards, but the new requirement only applies to EU-approved vehicles.
