Deutsche Telekom, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and cetecom advanced are preparing the mobile network for the next generation of automatic emergency call systems in vehicles. Since April 2018, an eCall system has been mandatory for all new vehicle models. The automatic emergency call system prescribed by the European Union is now technically outdated. With the Next Generation Emergency Call (NG eCall), it is getting a future-proof update.
In order to provide consumer new car safety information, promote the upgrading of the vehicle industry, enhance the safety of domestic vehicles, and promote the Taiwan New Car Safety Assessment Program (TNCAP), the Ministry of Transportation officially announced the assessment results of the seventh and eighth ranked TNCAP models after completing the selection, purchase, testing, and assessment of the fourth batch of second models. NISSAN KICKS received a five-star assessment, and TOYOTA YARIS received a three-star assessment.
FEV and Streetscope have entered into a partnership, employing industry-exclusive quantitative measures to dramatically enhance ADAS/AD development. As work to improve the fidelity of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving (AD) continues throughout the transportation industry, a widespread problem persists, the lack of a consensus approach to determine effectiveness of safety measures in autonomous vehicles.
Valeo and Teledyne FLIR have started a strategic collaboration to bring thermal imaging technology to the automotive industry to enhance the safety of road users. Together, the team already secured a major contract in late 2023 from a leading global automotive OEM to deliver their new thermal imaging cameras as part of a new generation of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) driver-aide technology to improve vehicle and road safety.
TU Graz has been working very successfully with automotive supplier Magna for around 20 years, most recently for five years in the research and development programme "MATURE" (MAgna TU Graz REsearch) focused on automated driving and virtual product development and production.
Applus Laboratories and Rohde & Schwarz have successfully showcased the seamless integration of eCall testing in an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test environment. The demonstration illustrated different eCall testing scenarios and capabilities in compliance with the UN ECE R10 standard, which regulates automobile-related EMC.

IPG Automotive publishes release 13.0 of the CarMaker product family. In addition to a new HD Scenario, the simulation and test software puts forward new 3D models and an extended configurable ground truth sensor. Furthermore, the program can now be linked with virtual reality headsets for the first time.
ams OSRAM launches the next generation of its popular OSLON Submount PL family of LEDs, offering higher brightness and more design flexibility to manufacturers of automotive forward lighting modules and products. The third-generation OSLON® Submount PL LEDs are around 9 % brighter than the second generation based on internal data.
China unveiled safety guidelines in December 2023 for the operation of autonomous vehicles in public transportation encompassing autonomous vehicles for both passenger transportation, including taxis, and freight services. The guidelines stipulate regulations for vehicles with varying levels of automation, mandating the presence of at least one human driver or security inspector. Additionally, they necessitate that companies deploying autonomous vehicles for public transportation hold the necessary qualifications and licenses. 
After many years as CEO of MESSRING Dierk Arp is entering his well-deserved retirement. In his almost 30 years as CEO, Mr. Arp has been a key figure in shaping the company and leading it to its current success.
