 New UN Regulation target Pedal MisapplicationThe United Nations’ Working Party on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles (GRVA) has adopted the new regulation for Acceleration Control for Pedal Error (ACPE), and regulatory provisions for the introduction of a new generation of braking systems for electric vehicles. The new UN regulation is expected to significantly improve road safety, while the regulatory provisions for the new braking systems in electric vehicles aim at improving energy efficiency.

VTI tests child car seats and we are ready to conduct tests following the latest European safety standards. VTI has one of the few independent crash safety laboratories in Sweden. It is the only one accredited to carry out crash testing of child car seats, crash barriers and other road equipment.
AB Dynamics is enabling OEMs and test houses to automate the testing and validation of the latest industry-standard active safety protocols by all the major regulatory and consumer bodies. In the company's latest software update, available from its newly rebranded 'Track Applications Suite', more than 400 tests have been added to its award-winning 'Special Groups', AB Dynamics extensive library of pre-defined test scenarios.
In line with its sophisticated StreetWise methodology, TNO has led the development of an ISO standard for categorising driving scenarios, aimed at enhancing the assessment of Automated Driving Systems (ADSs). This new ISO 34504 standard aids OEMs in constructing robust safety arguments and assists authorities in efficiently evaluating the safety evidence of ADSs.
Researchers at SAFER's partner institutions have recently been awarded grants from Vinnova/FFI for two studies on human modeling, which can be used in the development of vehicle safety systems. The SAFER Human Body Model (HBM) provides a competence platform for our partners and serves as a natural contact point for external cooperation. This virtual human substitute can predict injury outcomes in any impact situation and direction of loading. It can be morphed to replicate a large portion of the population, standing or sitting, with human-like kinematics in crash events as well as pre-crash maneuvers.
International expert organization DEKRA has laid the foundation stone for its new battery test center in Klettwitz, Germany. The world s largest non-listed TIC supplier (testing, inspection, and certification) is investing a mid-double-digit million euro sum in the new testing and certification laboratory. From mid-2025, battery systems for electric vehicles as well as high-voltage storage systems for other applications will be thoroughly tested there.

NVIDIA showcases accelerated computing and generative AI breakthroughs for autonomous vehicle development at the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition conference. Making moves to accelerate self-driving car development, NVIDIA was named an Autonomous Grand Challenge winner at the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) conference, running this week in Seattle.
On April 29 and 30, the ROADVIEW project partners convened in Gothenburg, Sweden for the project's 5th General Assembly (GA) and review meeting with the CINEA European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency. Hosted by RISE, the event gathered around thirty participants, representing the consortium s fifteen project partners.

UNECE's World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) has adopted an amendment to the United Nations Rule No.1 of the 1997 Agreement that allows for the introduction of a more robust test procedure to measure exhaust particle emissions during periodic technical inspection tests for all diesel light-duty vehicles (passenger cars and vans) equipped with diesel particulate filters.
