Euro NCAP launches TRUCK SAFE Assessment Programme

The safety of the trucks on European roads is in the spotlight after Euro NCAP today revealed the first set of results for its brand-new TRUCK SAFE assessment programme. This is the very first time that HGVs have been tested for safety. Out of nine trucks assessed, Volvo's FH Aero and FM models both earned a maximum five-star rating, while IVECO's current S-WAY model emerged as the weakest performer with one star.

Latin NCAP publishes new Results

Latin NCAP performed an audit test to the Toyota Corolla. The Toyota Corolla earns 4 stars.

NTSB releases new Safety Recommendations for Trucks and Motorcoaches

article imageRepeated disregard of safety regulations, along with ineffective federal and state enforcement and oversight, contributed to the collision between a bus and box truck in Louisville, New York in 2023, the National Transportation Safety Board said at a board meeting. As a result of this investigation, the board is issuing 12 new recommendations and reiterating three previous recommendations.

Pioneering Transportation Research

article imageRichard Hanowski of the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is helping cut down on motorcycle-related crashes in low- and middle-income countries with the Motorcycle Collision-Alert and Management System. Hanowski and his colleagues wondered if providing some sort of advance notice about roadway hazards might decrease crash and near-crash incidents. They developed their first prototype, which included forward collision warning and conducted an intervention study with 35 riders.

FERSI elects Luca Persia as President

Luca is the Director of the Research Centre for Transport and Logistics (CTL) of the Sapienza University of Rome. As FERSI President he succeeds Rob Eenink (SWOV, Netherlands) who has held this position since 2018.
